The bathing establishments are those that are fitted with appropriate means, using mineral waters declared public utility for therapeutic and preventative health. (Law 5 / 1995 of 7 June, the regulation of mineral, thermal, spring and bathing establishments of the Autonomous Community of Galicia) .

This guide is an invitation to enjoy the Beaches of Galicia, where THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE WATER .

In this guide at your disposal:

  • A glossary of mineral waters , with which you can learn more in detail the various properties of waters and spas where you have them
  • A glossary of techniques and treatments along with the most appropriate therapeutic indications for each treatment
  • A range of contents on the therapeutic indications divided into categories, so you can learn more about the benefits of water for different indications, with recommended techniques for dealing with each category, and spas where you could go to receive the benefits of water
  • Two tables where you can see the different types of mineral waters and therapeutic indications discussed in the various resorts in Galicia.

In any case, you should remember that this guide is not a substitute for your doctor, to be the medical spa that will determine the appropriate treatment for your needs.

It is also advisable to follow these tips:

  • It is not advisable to start any treatment in acute phase (asthma attacks, colds, tuberculosis ,...
  • You should consult any changes in your health
  • If you are pregnant or think you can be pregnant, see a doctor
  • If respiratory and rheumatologic treatments since the beginning of the treatment until one month after its completion, you should not expose your body to sharp temperature contrasts (baths in swimming pools, sea, river or beverage intake ... frozen foods, air conditioning ...)
  • Thermal treatments in children are recommended in spring or end of the beach season
  • Regular grooming should be done each day before the cure and agrees not to shower until after two hours of treatment, in order to promote absorption of minerals
  • You should not overdress

In spas, the treatments are based on the use of mineral waters. This type of water are formed by a solution of mineral elements that provide a range of properties.

There are various types of water depending on its mineral content. There is the following classification of mineral waters, each has a distinct action on the body and therefore has a certain indications.
