Balnearios de Galicia was established in 1985 with the aim of representing and promoting the Galician thermal sector, and has currently twenty spas partners: the de Carballo in northwest Spain, the Brea, Cuntis, Mondariz , Caldelas of Tui, La Toja (Grand Hotel and Isla de la Toja), Acuna and Davila (both in Caldas de Reyes), in the province of Pontevedra, Lugo's, Rio Pambre, Guitiriz and Aguas Santas, in the province of Lugo; and Arnoia, Molgas Baths, Caldas de Partovia, Carballiño, Laias (Cenlle) Lobios (Riocaldo) and Sousa (Verin) in the province of Ourense.

All the above resorts, regardless of their location, urban or rural, to meet current regulations in Galicia, by which:

  1. "Balneotherapy" is a healing method for the therapeutic effect of mineral and thermal waters.
  2. According to Article 2.1.la) of Law 5 / 1995 of 7 June, the regulation of mineral, thermal, spring and bathing establishments of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, are "waters medicinal mineral those born naturally or artificially and that its characteristics and qualities, are declared of public utility and are suitable for therapeutic treatments.
  3. According to Article 2.2 of the said Act, "thermal waters are those waters in which its temperature rise is higher, at least four degrees centigrade in the annual average of where they are born".
  4. Based on Article 1 of the Order of the Ministry of Health on 5 November 1996 regulating the sanitary authorization of the bathing establishments of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, "shall be considered for lidos that are fitted with appropriate means, use mineral or thermal waters declared public utility for therapeutic and preventative health. "

    Moreover, for the development to regulate the Act 95, approved the regulation for the use of mineral waters, hot springs and the bathing establishments of the Autonomous Community of Galicia (Decree 402 / 1996, October 31). The enactment and implementation of this regulation, which came to incorporate into our law EU legislation on the matter, was of undoubted interest and benefit to protect the quantity and quality of our waters, in addition to being a real guarantee for the hydrotherapy.
